When my father, Shawki Bachoua (owner and chief pharmacist), first bought South Bay Drugs in 1982, he had a vision to provide Imperial Beach with no-fuss, rapid prescription service. Now, over two decades later, we maintain the same level of pride and professionalism into our services as we did back then.
Besides being a successful pharmacy, South Bay Drugs has earned a reputation for being THE spot in San Diego for craft beer. We pride ourselves on being a huge contributer to the local craft beer scene by supporting the San Diego brewing companies who also take pride in their great products. Our philosophy is to support local products and keep the local money in our great city. It's quite easy to have this philosophy when San Diego has, arguably, become the best area in all America for craft beer. Stone Brewing, Alesmith, Ballast Point, Port Brewing/Lost Abbey, Green Flash and Alpine Beer Company are always represented and well stocked at South Bay Drugs. We've developed a reputation around San Diego for specializing in the rare, not-so-common and seasonal beers that are unattainable elsewhere. We're also one of the very few retailers to carry Alpine Beer Company's great line-up of beers. Our daily-updated website keeps our customers informed on the latest local craft beer industry news and contains information unavailable elsewhere. My passion for great beer has fueled my ambition to sell only the best craft beers the world has to offer.
